All reviews for Kensuke's Kingdom

Michael’s life is ordinary until his parents become redundant and his family buy a boat. Michael and his family sail around the world, visiting far away places with his dog ‘Stella-Artois’. Michael Morpurgo uses his excellent skills to bring the characters and settings to life. The story is written as a diary as Michael is retracing his childhood memories. He makes friends with a man named Kensuke after falling into the water. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys adventure, mystery and geographical stories.

The tragic bit was when the boy fell off the boat with the dog. I liked the part when his mum and dad came and rescued him. Kensuke was ok, but a bit strict. The chapter about the turtles was good. Overall, it was weird and strange. It wasn’t my favourite Michael Morpurgo book – I would recommend Toro Toro. That made my mum cry.

A good book for anyone with nothing to read. There are good bits and sad bits. But nice. Morpurgo, you’ve done it again!

This book is spectacular and I would highly recommend this. I was not sure I would enjoy this as most of Morpurgo’s books are about the war, but this is completely different and most enjoyable.
