Cover: I loved the cover, and found it very appealing as it looked very mysterious. You want to know what lies inside, what parts will lunge at you, stay with you, the parts of the book you’ll never forget. I especially like that there is a phoenix made of fire on the front cover, as you feel more drawn into the book. The font of the title really suits the wording. And I love the gold circle which says ‘Unlock the truth’. This really makes you want to know more about the book.
About: The book is about three chosen code crackers: Brodie, Hunter and Tusia, on their quest to unlock the secrets of The Voynich Manuscript. The most mysterious code in the world. But the government says it’s outlawed to even try and solve it. But these three, have to work secretly, and solve the manuscript before time runs out. But then someone finds out and will stop at nothing to prevent them from solving the mystery. But Brodie and her team will let nothing stop them, especially now that she needs to solve more then one mystery. The mystery of her mother’s death, the paper with holes in it and the key around Friedman’s neck. But she must remember ‘Light is Knowledge’…
What I thought: I thought this book was excellent, and I really enjoyed solving the clues before the characters did. The book really involved the reader, and I like books like that. It had a lot of suspense and the whole plot and story line was really good. The Voynich Manuscript is a great subject to write a book on, and the author has done this perfectly. The only downfall, I felt too old reading the book as it seemed more for younger readers.
I would recommend this book to ages 9-12
My Star rating is 4.5 out of 5
